What are you signing up for? Nimbus is a cloud development environment platform that’s accessed through the tools that developers are already using. This means developers aren’t limited by the development environments hosted on their local machine. In practice, this means faster environment builds, the ability to work on multiple environments, increased security, etc.
Nimbus is in CLOSED BETA. This means not everyone that requests access will receive it. The main reason for this is that we are looking to flesh out support for the most commonly used tools and languages before expanding our focus.
Right now, Nimbus is focused on supporting VS Code users working with Javascript (including React), Python, Go, and more - honestly, there’s too many to list.
Already requested access: If you’re reading this. You’ve probably already requested or received access. If that’s the case, hang tight and Nimbus founders will get back to you within 24 hours. If you haven’t gotten a response yet, feel free to reach out via Twitter @NimbusEnv or email [email protected] with the subject: “Delayed Closed Beta Access”
Wanting to request access: If you have not yet requested access and want to do so please fill out the following intake form: https://tripetto.app/run/34E7DQJEVA. We will respond within 24 hours to qualify your needs and use case.
Invitation to join: Based on the intake form, we’ll let you know if you’re a fit for our closed beta. If you are getting access without the intake form or if there’s further clarification needed, we’ll just send out a quick email to make sure. If qualified, you’ll receive an invitation to join via Auth0 to the primary email you’ve provided.
Once you’re in, we’ll set up an onboarding session. This short session (~15mins) is to set you up for success and make sure you’re ready to go.
Nimbus is available on the VS Code extension marketplace. Currently, Nimbus is only available via native VS Code (i.e. not the browser-based version). You can find the extension by searching Nimbus and finding the one made by “usenimbus” (or just go to this link: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=usenimbus.nimbus).
Install the extension and look for the Nimbus workspace. This will be represented by our logo as an icon on the VS Code “activity bar” (on the left or right-hand side where your extensions marketplace and explorer icons are).
Use the “Sign In to Nimbus” button in the Nimbus workspace to sign in. The credentials used for sign up via email will be used to access Nimbus. Once signed in, you will remain signed in until you log out (or based on your preferences). To log out, click the Accounts icon at the bottom of the VS Code “activity bar”
